Collene J. Delaney, Ph.D. has 30 years experience teaching in universities as a Clinical Scientist, and leading workshops and retreats in the United States, Canada and Europe that support personal empowerment, health and wholeness:

I am a "bridger".  I've integrated Conventional and Complementary approaches to health and healing...long before the term Integrative Medicine was created!  I am an Associate Professor in the University of Washington Medical School and have also been on faculty at Bastyr University of Natural Health Sciences. 

In the mid-70's a "personal epiphany" began my quest for what seemed missing in conventional medicine--how to empower the patient. In this journey I found several excellent mentors and modalities that fulfill this need for me:

I have been a Practitioner of the Usui System of Reiki Healing for 23 yrs, a Reiki Master for 20 yrs (initiated by Grandmaster Phyllis Lei Furumoto) and a member of The Reiki Alliance for 20 yrs. 
 
I am an accredited Transformation Game Facilitator, trained by Joy Drake and Kathy Tyler, and have shared this sacred tool with others for 22 yrs. I studied Sumi Brush Painting and Hon Carving with Michael Hartley and, following his encouragement, began to share these practices with students 14 yrs ago.  

I had the privilege of studying with three Native American Medicine Women over a six-year period. Their teachings strongly influence my life.

I give 15% of my time in service--on Boards, Committees and Task Groups in professional organizations and communities. I Co-founded the Seattle Reiki/AIDS Project, served on its Board and was a volunteer Practitioner for 6 years. I design and facilitate team building retreats for work groups at my Medical Center-- together we identify and heal our challenged interpersonal, business and technical processes to assure return to wholeness so that we deliver the best patient care possible.

In my classes and workshops the integration of all of who I am is available.  I respect the discipline and form for each workshop as given to me by my Teacher.  I emphasize the mind-body connection, honor the inner healer, acknowledge the natural beauty and harmony in the world and empower each participant in their personal exploration of wholeness.  Together we create a safe and loving space, laughter and tears, and discovery!
